crisis-communicationsM3 College is offering a one day course in Crisis Public Relations on 22 January.

Crisis Public Relations is a course about how to deal with problems and crises that arise unexpectedly. The purpose of the course is to learn the successful management of such problems using the special strengths of PR and putting them to effective use.

The training will be conducted through multimedia presentations and role-playing cases with participants.

Topics in the course:

1. The nature of crisis PR.
2. Types of crises (cases: business, natural disasters, pharmaceuticals, policy).
3. Key steps in times of crisis.
4. Planning – a comprehensive anti-crisis program for the organization.
5. Developing a crisis communication plan.
6. Possible problems with implementation of the PR campaign (case studies: business, IT, ecology).
7. Positioning the organization – messages (cases: tourism, pharmaceuticals).
8. Communications with the media during a crisis (cases: terrorism, consumers).
9. Communications with internal and external audiences during a crisis (cases: business, tourism, natural disasters, politics).
10. Online communications in times of crisis – social networks.
11. Monitoring and evaluation of the PR campaign.

About the lecturer:

Prof. Sonia Alexieva is Head of the Department of Tourism in the Department of Economics and Business Administration, New Bulgarian University.
She teaches courses in Advertising and Public Relations, Event Management, the Public Relations of Cultural Tourism, Business Communications and others.

Professor Alexieva holds a Master’s Degree in Journalism and a PhD in Sociology. She is the author of hundreds of publications in the field of public relations and tourism. She is an expert in PR and business communications with specialization in PR for Tourism. She has participated as an expert in public relations and communications in a number of Bulgarian and foreign communication projects, and in many Bulgarian campaigns relating to the development of strategies, brands and image for tourism in Bulgaria.

She is among the founders of the Bulgarian Society for Public Relations (BPRS) and served two terms as president (1998-2001). She is active in many professional associations.

Practical Details:

The course will be offered in a seminar format. The materials will be received on site and will correspond with the practical focus of the course Each participant will receive a certificate of completion for the one day of specialized training.

The price of course is 100 leva, payable in cash or by bank transfer.
