Koledaria is the first-ever Bulgarian Christmas and New Year’s market. It is modelled after the famous Christkindlmarkts of Vienna, Strasbourg, Paris and Dresden.
Sofia’s Christmas market was opened on 30 November, and will continue until 7 January 2010. (The name Koledaria comes from the Bulgarian word for Christmas, Koleda.) The festivities can be found between Sofia University and Eagles’ Bridge in big tents, with seating available for more than 1000 people.
The programme consists of cultural events such as concerts by Bulgarian pop singers, choral and spiritual music, exhibitions of traditional Bulgarian crafts, handmade toys, culinary demonstrations, tasting of Christmas sweets and mulled wine, puppet shows and more. Entry is free-of-charge.
Open: 10.00 to 22.00 every day
